Metabolic Rate Testing

Your metabolic rate is the number of calories a person's body burns a day at rest. The RMR accounts for about 75% of the total daily energy expenditure. That rate, determined by the Body Gem ( a handheld device that measures resting metabolic rate) can tell you how many calories you need to eat in a day in order to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. Very simply, this measurement takes the guesswork out of establishing a calorie level for weight loss.

The test is quick, easy and painless. You simply breath into the Body Gem device for 5 to 10 minutes and it automatically calculates your RMR. For the test to be accurate, do not eat for 4 hours prior to your appointment. Also refrain from consuming any caffeine containing products for this period of time. Finally, do not participate in any aggressive exercise for 4 hours prior to the test.
